Bulgaria
In 1878, Bulgaria became an autonomous territory after being liberated from Ottoman rule, and just a year later, the first telephone line was installed in the capital of the principality, connecting Sofia with a military camp in Slivnitsa. This happened only three years after Alexander Bell invented the telephone. By the end of the 19th century, telephone lines had appeared in Plovdiv and Ruse.
